The Carbon Capture Clown

Meet the state representativeClown who can't figure out how to vote when it comes to carbon capture.

Do we really want him to be a senator?

Against Carbon Capture, Against Data Centers, Against Solar Energy, and wants to hand our schools over to Ft. Polk.

The Big Flip Flop (Or Should It Be Croc?)

A Clear Progression

Chuck Owen's record on carbon capture has changed sharply over time. Here's the documented progression, year by year.

2020-2022Supported Louisiana's carbon sequestration framework.
2023Began supporting targeted restrictions.
2024Became increasingly critical as projects reached Vernon Parish.
2025-2026Pushed local control, landowner protections, and stronger limits on underground carbon storage.

I had never heard the word carbon sequestration before this point.

Said in 2024 — despite voting yes on SB 353 in 2020, a bill specifically about carbon sequestration.

Please don't think Chuck is here trying to kill off carbon capture.

Said in 2025 while sponsoring a bill to give parishes more control over Class VI wells.

Whether someone calls that a "flip-flop" is a political judgment. But the documented record is clear: Chuck Owen moved from voting for legislation that supported Louisiana's carbon sequestration system to becoming one of the lawmakers seeking greater restrictions on how and where those projects can operate.

Now that Mike Reese is at McNeese, the Carbon Capture Clown is meddling in an issue outside of his area but in Senator Reese's.
